An injured Brent Burns (upper body) continued to skate on his own. The forward took the ice by himself for approximately 20 minutes before the Sharks went on for practice wearing a helmet but no pads.

The details on Burns’ injury are still vague, but according to general manager Doug Wilson, he is not expected to be out long term.

Brent Burns
As reported yesterday, Bruns is officially out for tonight vs. Los Angeles.

Burns will miss his fifth consecutive game with a mouth injury that he suffered on October 19th. The Sharks haven't skipped a beat without Burns, but his eight points in eight games has fantasy owners chomping at the bit for him return. Consider him questionable for Saturday vs. Phoenix

Burns (mouth) skated on his own today but will miss Wednesay's contest with the Kings.

Burns will miss his fifth consecutive game on Wednesday with a mouth injury he suffered on October 19th. The Sharks haven't missed a beat without Burns, but his eight points in eight games has fantasy owners impatiently waiting for his return. Consider him questionable for Saturday vs. Phoenix

Brent Burns
Brent Burns is out tonight after taking a hit to the mouth in Saturday's game. He could be back by Thursday vs. Boston.

Burns has been off to a hot-start scoring four goals and four assists in eight games. On Yahoo he is still D eligible giving him great value when he is playing on Joe Thornton's right wing. Freddie Hamilton will replace Burns on the top-line.

McLellan found out this morning Demers can not go tonight, Burns will go back to playing defense. #SJSharks

I would expect Burns to move back to forward after Demers returns to the lineup. Burns has five goals and five assists in nine games as a forward, including goals in three straight games.

Looking for a way to spark his team's sluggish offense, coach Todd McLellan turned defenseman Brent Burns into a forward Tuesday night in his first game back since suffering a leg injury more than two weeks ago. Burns scored a goal.

He began the game on a third line with Scott Gomez and James Sheppard. After scoring McLellan gave Burns regular shifts on a line with Joe Thornton and Logan Couture as well as power play time on the blue line.

McLellan expects #SJSharks Burns to get clearance to play tonight vs. STL - and he'll be on 3rd line w/23 and 15 plus power play time on D.

Yes you read that right, the Sharks are experimenting playing Burns at forward. This will certainly help Burns' fantasy value as he will likely get more scoring chances playing forward and he will still be able to be used as a defenceman. However he as had a hard time staying healthy so he is always an injury risk.

Brent Burns
Burns out at least the next two games, but McLellan does not rule out Havlat or Wingels for tomorrow against Colorado. #sjsharks

The often injured Burns left Saturday's game after only playing 2:07 and did not return. The injury is a lower-body injury and it is not known how much time he will miss. We do know he will not be in the lineup in the Sharks next two games. Burns has zero points and is a -5 in 6 games this season.

Brent Burns
Brent Burns was paired with Brad Stuart today at practice.

Burns had been skating as an extra at practice but was paired with Stuart today which indicates he is nearing a return. He could suit up tomorrow for the Sharks, but nothing is official. Check back tomorrow for an official word on Burns.

Brent Burns
Sharks defenseman Brent Burns is skating again, but did not offer a timeline as to when he could return to the lineup.

Burns continues to rehab, but when he will be back on the ice is unknown. The Sharks are on a tear right now so I don't foresee them rushing Burns back and risk him re-injuring himself. For now just monitor his status going forward, and pick him up accordingly if he is still available.
