Potter is day-to-day with his groin injury and likely misses another game or two. In his first 41 games with the Oilers, the journeyman has three goals and 17 points.

Look for Potter to get time on the power play as Ryan Whitney has not taken the reigns as top defenseman. The Lansing, Michigan native has two goals and eight assists in 16 games.

Potter last played on November 17th but may be close to returning. Prior to getting hurt, he scored two goals and eight points while playing in all situations.

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Saturday the club has assigned defenseman Cade Fairchild and forward Brett Sterling to the Blues’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.

Sterling drew into a few games but was unable to make an impact at the NHL level. The career minor leaguer holds no fantasy hockey value.

LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Saturday the club has assigned forwards Jonathan Cheechoo, Adam Cracknell, Philip McRae, Anthony Peluso and Brett Sterling, defensemen Ian Cole and Mark Cundari along with goaltender Ben Bishop to the Blues’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, Peoria Rivermen.

No immediate fantasy hockey value in the AHL.

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Friday the club has recalled forwards Jonathan Cheechoo, Anthony Peluso and Brett Sterling along with defenseman Mark Cundari from the Blues’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, Peoria Rivermen.

Sterling will get another shot at making the team.

Potter, who has played nine NHL games — most of them for current Oilers coach Tom Renney when he was running the New York Rangers bench — and 321 in the American Hockey League, is smack-dab in the picture for the Jason Strudwick role as the No. 7 defenceman.

Potter, a favored prospect under Renney, could make the team as a seventh d-man. The AHL journeyman plays a solid, two-way game but likely will not play with any regularity or affect any fantasy hockey league.
