Bryan Bickell News

The Blackhawks have placed Bryan Bickell (lower-body) on injured reserve retroactive to November 19.

Bickell has missed the Blackhawks' last 10 games after being injured in the first period on November 19 vs. Colorado. Bickell skated during Sunday's morning skate which suggests he is nearing a return, but his placement on IR allowed the Hawks to recall goaltender Kent Simpson. Bickell is eligible to come off of IR and play whenever he is healthy, however the Blackhawks would have to make a roster move in order to activate him.

Bickell (lower-body) will be out "a couple of weeks" according to coach Joel Quenneville.

Bickell was injured in the first period of Tuesday's contest with the Avalanche. Bickell has not been the player he was in the 2013 playoffs, tallying five goals and one assist in 22 games.

Bickell is already a healthy scratch but may stay on the bench due to the flu. He has four goals and nine points through 43 games.

With the first on-ice practice of training camp scheduled for Saturday, Bickell said the time spent rehabilitating the injury has paid off in "a complete, 100 percent recovery."

Bickell broke out last season, scoring 17 goals and 37 points in only 78 games. His emergence made it easier for the team to deal Troy Brouwer in the offseason, filling the hole with the cheaper Andrew Brunette. Should Bickell see time on the top two lines, his fantasy value should only increase.
