The Blue Jackets have activated Cam Atkinson (foot) from IR.
Atkinson is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a fractured foot.
Atkinson suffered the injury late in Saturday’s game against the Flyers. With Atkinson expected to miss at least one month, he was placed on IR and someone (likely Sonny Milano) is expected to be recalled from Cleveland (AHL) to take his spot on the roster.
Atkinson (healthy scratch) will be back in the Blue Jackets lineup on Tuesday.
Atkinson was benched for the third period in New Jersey on Friday and was healthy scratched Saturday vs. the Coyotes. Head coach John Tortorella wants more out of Atkinson, who has just six goals and three assists (nine points) in 25 games this season.

The Blue Jackets signed Cam Atkinson to a seven-year extension worth $41.125M ($5.875M AAV).
Atkinson’s extension include a no-trade or no-move clause in the first two years of the deal and a limited no-trade after that. Atkinson had a breakout campaign in 2016-17 but has struggled early-on in 2017-18, collecting just four goals and two assists (six points) in 15 games. Regardless of the slow start, Atkinson is locked into a large role in the Blue Jackets offence and is now signed there through the 2024-25 season.

Atkinson has one goal and two assists but he is a minus-7 through six games this season. The Blue Jackets coaching staff wants more out of Atkinson which is why he will sit tonight in favour of David Clarkson.

Atkinson (hand/wrist) is questionable for the remaining two games.
Atkinson suffered a cut near his hand/wrist area after he was sliced by Alexander Wennberg’s skate while leaving the bench to celebrate last night’s win. Atkinson required 10 stitches to close the wound and is questionable for the Blue Jackets final two games.
The Blue Jackets have signed Cam Atkinson to a three-year, $10.5M contract extension.
Atkinson was believed to be a potential trade target at the deadline, but the Blue Jackets have locked the 25-year-old up for the next three years at $3.5 million per year. He has 13 goals and 12 assists (25 points) in 58 games this season.

The Blue Jackets have placed Cam Atkinson (upper-body) on IR.
Atkinson, 25, suffered an upper body injury on December 27 against Boston and is expected to miss one to two weeks from the time of the injury. His placement on IR allowed the Blue Jackets to recall Sean Collins from Springfield (AHL).
Atkinson (upper-body) will miss at least one game.
Atkinson left Saturday’s game with an upper-body injury and did not return. Following Saturday’s contest, coach Todd Richards said that Atkinson will miss “at least Wednesday’s game”.
