Cam Talbot News

Jet Greaves was expected to carry a heavy workload this season, but some rough outings have left Talbot between the pipes in three of four games for the Blue Jackets. The 39-year-old Talbot was excellent in his most recent outing, saving 26 of 27 shots (.963 SV%) in a 2-1 overtime win over the Vegas Golden Knights. He has a 2.82 GAA and .891 SV% in five appearances this season (2-2-0). The Blue Jackets enter Tuesday's game as -120 road favourites against a Philadelphia Flyers team whose three-game winning streak was snapped on Saturday in a 5-4 loss to the Anaheim Ducks.

Jet Greaves has struggled early in the 2026-27 season, allowing veteran Cam Talbot to make his case for more playing time in his second start on Tuesday against the Florida Panthers. The 39-year-old Talbot was solid in his only outing this season, saving 20 of 22 shots (.909 SV%) in a 3-2 shootout victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Blue Jackets enter Tuesday's contest as -121 home favourites against a Panthers team that has scored only 12 goals in its first six games (2-2-2).

The Blue Jackets have relied solely on Jet Greaves through two games this season (1-1-0), but with a back-to-back looming, the team will turn to Talbot for his first start on Friday against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The 39-year-old Talbot has been reliable in recent years, but is coming off a forgetful season, posting an ugly 3.19 GAA and .883 SV% in 34 appearances (12-9-6) with the Detroit Red Wings. The Blue Jackets enter Friday's contest as -118 home favourites against a Penguins team on a two-game losing streak (0-2-0).

With the Red Wings officially eliminated from playoff contention, Talbot will get the nod on Monday as the Red Wings opt to give John Gibson the night off. Talbot will be hoping to bounce-back from a disappointing performance in his last start, when he allowed five goals on just 20 shots in a 5-4 loss to the Wild back on April 5th. The 38-year-old netminder has appeared in 32 games this season, logging a 12-9-5 record and an .888 SV%. The Red Wings enter action on Monday at +160 on the money line.

The Red Wings have a back-to-back coming up, and Head Coach Todd McLellan suggested that if Talbot is not ready to suit up, they may need Michal Postava, recently recalled from Grand Rapids (AHL), to serve as John Gibson's backup. Even so, Talbot has been used sparingly lately as the Red Wings try to stay in playoff contention, starting only one game so far this month.

With John Gibson (upper body) unavailable, Talbot will tend the twine on Wednesday against the Vegas Golden Knights. The 38-year-old Talbot was excellent in relief of Gibson in Monday's 4-2 win over the Nashville Predators, saving 18 of 19 shots (.947 SV%) in two periods of play. That said, he had a poor showing in his most recent start, allowing five goals on 36 shots (.861 SV%) in a 5-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, and has lost four straight starts (0-3-1). The Red Wings enter Wednesday's contest as -124 home favourites against a Golden Knights team on a three-game losing streak (0-3-0).

John Gibson was between the pipes for Wednesday's win over the Maple Leafs, so it will be Talbot's turn when the Red Wings play their second game in as many nights on Thursday. Talbot was unfortunate to be tagged with the loss in his last start, losing 3-0 in Boston back on January 13th despite allowing just two goals on 40 shots. The 38-year-old netminder has largely taken a back seat to Gibson of late thanks to the latter's incredible form, but Talbot does still own a respectable 11-7-3 record on the season. Talbot and the Wings enter action on Thursday at +135 on the money line.

Talbot will get the nod for the tail-end of Detroit's back-to-back after serving as John Gibson's backup on Monday. Talbot was tagged with the loss in his last start, allowing four goals on 31 shots in a 4-3 overtime loss in Pittsburgh on New Year's Day. The 38-year-old brings an 11-6-3 record and .888 SV% into Tuesday night's matchup, where the Red Wings enter action at +110 on the money line.

The Red Wings will hand Talbot his 21st start of the season when they travel to Pittsburgh on Thursday. Talbot excelled in his latest start, allowing just two goals on 27 shots in a 3-2 overtime win over the Maple Leafs on Sunday. The 13-year-veteran owns an impressive 11-6-2 record on the season despite an underwhelming .889 SV%. The Red Wings enter action on Thursday at +110 on the money line.
