The Blackhawks have signed Chris Kunitz to a one-year deal.

The veteran winger signed with the Lightning last year after nine years in Pittsburgh. Kunitz found himself in Tampa Bay’s bottom-6 and collected just 29 points (13G / 16A) in 82 games. He figures to have a similar role with the Blackhawks this season.

Kunitz (lower-body) will be a game-time decision on Saturday.

Kunitz has missed the last six games with a lower-body injury, but took part in the Penguins’ morning skate and could be in the lineup tonight vs. the Red Wings. Kunitz skated with Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel this morning and enters play with 11 points (2G / 9A) in 18 games this season.

The Penguins have placed Chris Kunitz (undisclosed) on injured reserve.

Kunitz is battling an undisclosed injury, so he’s been moved to IR, meaning he will miss at least one week. His move to injured reserve opened up a roster spot for the Penguins to recall Jake Guentzel from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL). There is no word on the severity of Kunitz’s injury at this time.
