Wideman will dress as a seventh defenseman on Saturday.

Wideman was a healthy scratch on Thursday but will replace Michael Pezzetta in the lineup on Saturday. Wideman likely won't play a lot at 5v5 but should be back on the Canadiens' top power-play unit vs. the Predators. He has been effective lately, scoring one goal with three assists in his last four games.

The Penguins have acquired Chris Wideman from the Panthers for Jean-Sebastian Dea.

Wideman heads to his fourth organization of the season. Wideman started the year with the Senators before going to the Oilers, then Panthers and now to the Penguins, where he will likely report to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL). Wideman has 13 points (3G / 10A) in 16 AHL games this season.

The Oilers acquired Chris Wideman from the Senators for a 2020 sixth-round pick on Thursday.

Wideman played in just 16 games last season and has appeared in 19 of the Senators first 22 games this season, picking up five points (2G / 3A). He heads to Edmonton where he will fight with Matt Benning, Jason Garrison and Kevin Gravel for playing time.

The Senators have signed Chris Wideman to a two-year, $1.6-million contract extension.

Wideman, 26, was a fourth round pick (100th overall) in 2009. Wideman spent three years in the AHL, but landed a semi-permanent spot in the Senators’ lineup this season. He had 61 points (19G / 42A) in 75 AHL games last season, showcasing his offensive potential, but has picked up just nine points (5G / 4A) in 44 games with Ottawa this season.
