Christian Wolanin News

Christian Wolanin has been reassigned to Abbotsford (AHL).

Wolanin had three assists, 16 SOG, four PIMs and a +5 plus/minus through 16 games with Vancouver but will head back to Abbotsford (AHL) as the Canucks' season comes to a close. The 28-year-old returns to the minors, where he was on fire previously, with six goals, 55 points, and a +12 plus/minus in 49 games played.

The Canucks signed Christian Wolanin to a one-year, two-way contract.

Wolanin appeared in 30 NHL games with the Senators back in 2019 but has only played in a combined 30 games in the three years since, posting one goal and four assists with the Senators, Kings and Sabres. He spent most of last season in the AHL, where he had 18 points (1G / 17A) in 37 games with Ontario.

The Kings acquired Christian Wolanin from the Senators for Mike Amadio.

Wolanin was a fourth-round pick of the Senators in 2015 and has scored five goals with 13 assists (18 points) in 58 career games since. Wolanin should be able to fight for playing time in Los Angeles, likely taking over Kurtis MacDermid's role as the seventh defenseman.

Wolanin will be a healthy scratch on Thursday.

Wolanin played in six straight games but was seeing very limited ice time, especially in the three most recent games, where he played under 10 minutes in each game. Wolanin, who has three assists in 15 games this season, will be replaced by Braydon Coburn in the lineup but look for Mike Reilly to take over PP2 duties.

Wolanin left Wednesday's game with a lower-body injury and is questionable to play Thursday.

Wolanin played 7:35 TOI before departing Wednesday's loss in Vancouver with a lower-body injury. If Wolanin can't play in Thursday's rematch, look for Josh Brown to draw back into the lineup after sitting as a healthy scratch last night. Mike Reilly would take over on PP2.

The Senators have assigned Christian Wolanin to Belleville (AHL).

Wolanin has missed the first four and a half months of the season after suffering a shoulder injury in training camp. He'll go back to the AHL to get some games in before likely returning to the Senators for the final few months of the 2020 campaign. He had 31 points (7G / 24A) in 40 AHL games a season ago.
