Logan Thompson (upper body) was back at practice on Monday, but has been ruled out of the team's next two games, targeting a return to the crease on Thursday. As such, third-string goalie Clay Stevenson will return to the crease on Monday against the New York Islanders. The 26-year-old Stevenson made his season debut on Saturday, his second-career NHL appearance, saving 19 of 22 shots (.864 SV%) in a 4-3 overtime win over the Carolina Hurricanes. The Capitals enter Monday's contest as -131 home favourites against an Islanders team whose three-game winning streak was snapped in a 4-3 loss to the Nashville Predators on Saturday.
