Murphy (groin strain) has been activated from Injured Reserve and is expected to return to the lineup on Friday.

Murphy has been out since January 13th due to a groin strain but was activated from the Injured Reserve on Thursday and will return to the lineup on Friday vs. Nashville. The 31-year-old will look to improve on his horrific -19 plus/minus and add to his two goals and eight points that he had in 43 games played before the injury.

The Blackhawks have signed Jason Dickinson to a two-year contract extension worth $8.5 million ($4.25M AAV).

Dickinson is pacing for the best offensive season of his career and has been rewarded with a two-year, $4.25M AAV contract extension. Through 43 games this season, Dickinson has 21 points (14G / 7A) and is well on pace to break his career-high of 30 points that he set last season with the Blackhawks.

Murphy has five goals, five assists, 62 SOG, 56 PIMs and a -1 plus/minus through 64 games played with Chicago but is not expected to be available Friday due to personal reasons. It will be the first game this season the 29-year-old will miss.

The Blackhawks acquired Jason Dickinson and a 2024 second-round pick from the Canucks for Riley Stillman.

Dickinson, who had 11 points (5G / 6A) in 62 games with the Canucks last season, was going to be at the bottom of the Canucks lineup heading into 2022-23. With Tyler Myers banged up, the Canucks seemed to think they needed defensive depth more than the bottom-6 forward.

Jason Dickinson
The Canucks have acquired Jason Dickinson from the Stars for a 3rd round pick.

Dickinson is a pending RFA and the Stars were likely worried about losing him for nothing in the Expansion Draft, so they get a third-round pick in return by sending him to Vancouver. Dickinson has averaged 10 goals and 16 assists (26 points) per 82-games over the last three seasons. The Canucks have protected Dickinson in the Expansion Draft.
