Corey Crawford News

Coach Joel Quenneville said Crawford might get three full games this preseason while the rest of the time would be shared. In the regular season, Quenneville wants Crawford to play in “the mid-50s” in terms of games.

After winning the job from his veteran counterpart Marty Turco, the younger Crawford played in 57 games and won 33 of them. In his sophomore campaign he should be expected to repeat those number, perhaps winning more with an improved lineup in front of him.

Corey Crawford arrived in Chicago a week in advance of the opening of Blackhawks training camp carrying something he hadn't previously had to start a season: The team's No. 1 goaltending job.

Crawford enters training camp with the number one tag but will be challenged by Ray Emery and Alexander Salak. His numbers last season -- 33-18-6, 2.30 GAA, .917 SV%, 4 shutouts -- more than proved the 26-year-old capable of starting in the NHL. With the Blackhawks projected to improve on last season, this year should be a big one for the talented sophomore.
