David Clarkson News

Devils right wing David Clarkson will miss tonight’s game against the Islanders with what head coach Pete DeBoer called “a lower-body issue” he sustained in Saturday’s 5-0 win in Carolina.

Sounds like Clarkson might miss a game or two as the Devils prep for the postseason. The power forward scored 30 goals and 45 points with 138 PIM in 79 games.

Clarkson returned to the team after missing yesterday's practice due to a personal day. The gritty winger is on pace for career highs in goals and he already has nine through 30 games.

David Clarkson has replaced Dainius Zubrus at right wing on the line with Petr Sykora and Patrik Elias.

Clarkson is tied for the team lead with nine goals so his move to a scoring line is not surprising. As one of the few players who can add 20 goals and over 100 PIM, Clarkson should be close to universally owned.

David Clarkson steps into Kovalchuk spot

Clarkson appears to be the main beneficiary of the Kovalchuk injury, moving up to the top line. Through 11 games this season he scored four goals and an assist while chipping in 35 PIM. If he's available in your league, he should be a nice option off the bench.
