Dorsett (neck) will not return to the Canucks active roster; effectively ending his NHL career.
This is a tough break for the veteran tough guy who was involved more offensive at the start of 2017-18 than he had been at any point in his NHL career. After the 20-game mark, Dorsett was on-pace for a career-high 29 goals and 303 PIMS but an on-going neck injury will force the 30-year-old to walk away from hockey at the recommendation of doctors.

Dorsett will undergo neck surgery and is out indefinitely.
Dorsett will undergo cervical disc surgery in his neck and will miss a significant amount of time. Dorsett is expected to make a full recovery and return to game action, but there’s no timetable for his return at this point.
Dorsett (undisclosed) will not play on Saturday.
Dorsett was injured in Saturday’s game vs. the Coyotes and he will not play tonight vs. the Blackhawks. With Dorsett out, Jayson Megna will get back into the Concuss lineup after missing time with an injury.
Dorsett (shoulder) will return to the Canucks’ lineup on Wednesday.
Dorsett has missed the last four games with a shoulder injury, but will be back in the lineup tonight in Montreal. Dorsett has just one assist an seven PIMS in five games this season. Expect him to take Jack Skille’s spot in the lineup.

Dorsett recently missed five games with an undisclosed injury, but returned for Friday’s game and will come back out of the lineup tonight. With Dorsett out, Jared McCann will be re-inserted into the lineup after serving as a healthy scratch.

Dorsett missed Friday’s practice but took part in this morning’s optional skate. He is listed as a game-time decision so monitor his status during the pre-game warmups.
The Canucks have signed Derek Dorsett to a four-year contract extension.
Dorsett has scored seven goals and 18 assists (25 points) in 77 games with the Canucks this season. In addition to his points, Dorsett has 169 PIMS on the year.

With Dorsett out, Ronalds Kenins will make his NHL debut on the Canucks fourth line. Dorsett is still “a ways away” according to head coach Willie Desjardins, so he could miss a few more contests.
Dorsett left Tuesday’s game with a lower-body injury and did not return.
Dorsett left the game after colliding knee-on-knee with Ryan Kesler. Kesler will not face supplementary discipline for the hit and Dorsett’s status for Friday’s game remains uncertain.
Dorsett (undisclosed) is doubtful for Sunday’s game.
Dorsett played just 7:42 (AVG 10:17 TOI) last night so he must have suffered some type of injury in the loss to the Kings. With Dorsett listed as doubtful, the Canucks have recalled Brandon DeFazio.

The Canucks have traded the 85th overall pick in this weekend's draft to the Rangers for Derek Dorsett.
Dorsett, 27, had four goals and four assists (eight points) with 128 penalty minutes in 51 games with the Rangers this past season. He is a go-hard player who gives it his all on every shift. New Canucks' head coach Willie Desjardins was Dorsett's head coach with the Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL) from 2004-2007. Dorsett has 64 points in 61 games and a 16 playoff points in 17 games en route to a WHL Championship in 2006-07. Desjardins brings in a player he is familiar with to fill an important fourth line role.
A decision will be made Tuesday if Dorsett (leg) will play on Thursday.
Dorsett has been sidelined since January 3 with a broken fibula. The gritty forward has three goals, two assists and 103 PIMs in 37 games this year.
Dorsett is expected to miss at least one month after breaking his fibula on Friday.
Dorsett's only fantasy relevant stat line was his 103 PIMs. With Dorsett out the Rangers have acquired another fourth-liner in Daniel Carcillo.

Dorsett will make his Rangers debut this afternoon. He had three goals, six assists and a minus-11 in 24 games with the Blue Jackets this season.
Derek Dorsett, who has not played for the Rangers since coming over in a trade-deadline deal from Columbus with a broken clavicle, told the Daily News after Monday’s practice in Greenburgh that he could be available to dress sometime during the first round, which doesn’t begin until Thursday night in D.C.
Dorsett is not a good playoff fantasy option. However he would be a good piece for the Rangers to get back because he brings a physical brand of hockey that is perfect for playoff hockey.
The New York Rangers have traded Marian Gaborik to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Derek Brassard, Derek Dorsett, John Moore and a 6th-round pick.
Dorsett is a tough player that provides the Rangers with some grit, however he is not fantasy relevant.
