The Ducks have signed Derek Grant to a one-year deal worth $700K.

Grant was re-acquired from Pittsburgh during the 2018-19 season and finished the year with 14 points (4G / 10A) in 56 games between the Penguins and Ducks (2G / 7A in 31 games). Grant will likely serve as the Ducks fourth line centre in 2019-20.

Grant has scored twice with three assists (five points) in 25 games with the Penguins this season. The 28-year-old returns to Anaheim, where he had the best year of his career, scoring 12 goals with 12 assists (24 points) in 2017-18.

Grant spent all of last season with the Ducks, recording 12 goals and 12 assists (24 points) in 66 games. So far this season he has one goal in one AHL game but could draw into the Penguins lineup on Tuesday.

The Sabres have recalled Derek Grant from Rochester (AHL).

Grant had three assists in 35 games with the Sabres earlier this season before ending up in Nashville via waivers. He had one assist in six games with Nashville but was reclaimed by the Sabres last week. With Evander Kane listed as a game-time decision, Grant has been recalled and could draw into the lineup tonight.

The Predators have claimed Derek Grant off of waivers from Buffalo.

Grant has picked up three assists and 19 penalty minutes across 35 games with the Sabres this season. The Sabers will planning to send him to Rochester (AHL), but the Predators have added some depth to their fourth line and sent Frederik Gauthier to Milwaukee (AHL).

Grant had no points and a minus-3 rating in one games during his time with the Flames. He may have failed to record a point, but he was impressive in the face-off circle, winning 56.8% of the face-offs he took, tops on the team. His demotion suggests that Jonas Hiller is ready to be activated from IR.
