Dale Weise News

The Canadiens have recalled Dale Weise from Laval (AHL).

Weise had five goals and six assists (11 points) in 42 games with the Flyers this year before going to Lehigh Valley (AHL). Weise returns to the Canadiens, where he played from 2014-to-2016, collecting 27 goals and 32 assists (59 points) in 152 games. He takes Kenny Agostino’s spot on the roster.

Weise is expected to be back in the Flyers lineup on Monday.

Weise has been a healthy scratch for the last three games but it looks like he will replace Jordan Weal in the Flyers lineup on Monday. Weise has struggled this season, recording just two goals and one assist in 17 games.

Stepan (hip) missed Monday’s practice but is expected to play on Tuesday.

Stepan was given a maintenance day this morning, but head coach Alain Vigneault said he is “probable” for tomorrow’s game vs. the Canadiens. Monitor Stepan’s status during their morning skate tomorrow.

Weise will be a healthy scratch on Thursday.

Weise has just one assist in eight games this season and will sit out as a healthy scratch on Thursday with Michael Raffl re-entering the lineup. It has not been an ideal start to the season for Weise, who signed a four-year deal this offseason.

The Flyers have signed Dale Weise to a four-year deal worth $9.4 million ($2.35M AAV).

Weise, 27, spent his time with the Canadiens and Blackhawks in 2015-16, totalling 14 goals and 13 assists (27 points) in 71 games. He struggled in a smaller role after being acquired by the Blackhawks, picking up just a single assist in 15 games. He is a solid top-9 forward who can play physically as well as pack a bit of an offensive punch for the Flyers in 2016-17.

The Blackhawks have acquired Dale Weise and Tomas Fleischman from the Canadiens for Phillip Danault and a 2018 2nd round pick.

Weise, 27, is a pending unrestricted free agent and the Canadiens playoff hopes are slim, so they’ve moved him to a contender. Weise is having a career-year, having posted 14 goals and 12 assists (26 points) in 56 games with Montreal.
