Devan Dubnyk News

Dubnyk will likely start Tuesday in Toronto.

Dubnyk was yanked after allowing five goals on 23 shots in the Wild’s 7-4 loss to the Penguins on Saturday. Alex Stalock earned the Wild’s first win in Ottawa on Monday afternoon but it looks like they’ll go back to Dubnyk in Toronto. He is 0-4-0 with a 4.56 GAA and .862 SV% in his first four starts and should be left on the bench against a Maple Leafs team that is averaging 4.00 goals per game.

Maybe the home-opener can get Dubnyk going. He was 12-15-4 with a 2.56 GAA and .911 SV% at Xcel Energy Center last year, so home-ice advantage didn’t really seem to matter much to the 33-year-old.

Dubnyk surrendered four goals on 31 shots in the Wild’s loss in Nashville on opening night. The Wild need Dubnyk to be great if they’re going to have any success this season and Game 1 was not his best performance. He was 2-2-0 with a 2.02 GAA and .938 SV% vs. the Avalanche last season but is a risky option on a busy Saturday night.

Dubnyk has been an absolute workhorse since arriving in Minnesota, averaging 64 starts and 35 wins per season. Over that time he has posted a 2.41 GAA and .918 SV%, which are t-4th and t-10th in the NHL respectively. Minnesota isn’t projected to be very good this year, but Dubnky’s workload keeps him in the No.2 fantasy conversation. He was 0-1-1 with a 2.46 GAA and .886 SV% vs. Nashville a season ago.
