Alex Goligoski News

Goligoski said that getting out on the ice has helped him understand that he should be able to manage the injury pretty well. The injured thumb is on his left hand and he is a left-handed shooter. So while it will affect how he snaps a wrister, it will not get the force of poke checking (which he will do with his right hand).

Goligoski should return at some point over the next two weeks. At this point he is just trying to be careful with the injury in order to not hurt himself even more.

Alex Goligoski (broken thumb) and Adam Burish (broken hand) skated at after practice. Goligoski said he gets his cast off on Friday. Gulutzan said Goligoski possibly could return at some point during the upcoming road trip, which runs from December 8-16.

Good news for the Stars and Goligoski owners. The offensive defenseman scored two goals and six points in 15 games prior to going down.

Bylsma says Jeffrey unlikely to play during 10-15 day rehab program.

Although Jeffrey has played six games with the club he needs to get his conditioning and strength back. Look for him to get back into the lineup in a few weeks, starting on the fourth line.

#Pens coach Bylsma: Jeffrey had more minutes, game situations in WBS. He's still rehabbing his knee. He needs to get stronger -SK

Doesn't sound like Jeffrey will play tonight but his presence on the team is telling on how they think of him. Expect him to return to the lineup at some point over the next few games.

Goligoski has a broken thumb, out for about four weeks.

Tough break for Goligoski, who has two goals and six points through 14 games. The team recalled Philip Larsen, who will likely fill in for the young offensive defenseman on the power play. Regardless, this puck mover will be missed as he's a big reason why the Stars are winning.

Dallas Stars defenseman Alex Goligoski left Friday night's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins with a hand injury suffered in the first period. "He's going to have some X-rays (on his hand), but I think he's going to be out for a little bit," said Stars coach Glen Gulutzan

Tough break for Goligoski, who has two goals and six points through 14 games. Look for Sheldon Souray and Trevor Daley to move into a larger role offensively and for Adam Pardy to draw back into the lineup.

Jeffrey says he is very close to playing. I would guess within next week or two he will be in lineup.

Jeffrey's return would be a welcome sign for the Pens, who are forced to use Richard Park on a scoring line. Last season he scored seven goals and 12 points through 25 games with the team, an indication he can light the lamp at the NHL level.

The Penguins have arrived in Winnipeg, but the team reports that center Evgeni Malkin and three other injured players did not make the two-game trip, which includes a game against the Jets on Monday and a game at Minnesota on Tuesday. The others who didn't travel are Sidney Crosby (concussion), Brooks Orpik (abdomen) and Dustin Jeffrey (knee). They have not played this season.

Don't expect to see any of these four players in the lineup over the next two road games. Through the team's first six games, they boast a league-best eight points.

Pittsburgh also placed forwards Sidney Crosby, Dustin Jeffrey on injured reserve.

Jeffrey starts the season in IR. Last season he impressed the big club, playing 25 games and finishing with seven goals and 12 points. When healthy expect him to battle for a bottom-6 role.
