Tokarski appeared in 27 games with San Diego (AHL) last season, going 17-8-1 with a 2.93 GAA and .898 SV%. The 28-year-old has had limited success in his brief NHL career, going 10-12-5 with a 2.84 GAA and .904 SV% in 34 career games between the Lightning, Canadiens and Ducks.

The Canadiens have acquired Dustin Tokarski from the Ducks for Max Friberg.

Tokarski has gone 1-3-0 with a 3.18 GAA and .878 SV% with the Canadiens this season and 3-3-4 with a 2.84 GAA and .909 SV% with St. John’s (AHL). Acquiring Tokarski gives the Ducks four NHL-read net minders, John Gibson, Frederik Andersen, Anton Khudobin and Tokarski. The chances of the Ducks actually carrying all four seem slim, so expect them to have another move up their sleeve, likely moving Khudobin so he can play in the NHL.

Tokarski will be back in goal on Saturday vs. the Senators.

Tokarski allowed three goals on 29 shots in the Canadiens loss in Detroit. Tokarski played really well but allowed a couple of late goals. Tokarski has been an average NHL goaltender and he draws a tough matchup against a Senators team that is fourth in the NHL in goals; averaging 3.03 goals per game.

Dustin Tokarski
Tokarski will make his first start of the season on Thursday vs. Detroit.

The only NHL action that Tokarski has seen this season is a third period back in November, when he allowed two goals on 13 shots in what turned out to be a 6-1 loss to the Avalanche. In his time with St. John’s (AHL) he has gone 2-3-3 with a 3.20 GAA and .900 SV%. He is a career 9-9-5, 2.85 GAA and .906 SV% NHL goalie, so he is hard to trust against a Detroit team that is 7-0-4 in their last 11.
