Eddie Lack News

The Devils have sent Eddie Lack to Binghamton (AHL) on a conditioning stint.

Lack has not appeared in a game this season with Keith Kinkaid starting all eight of the Devils games so far. With Cory Schneider back from his conditioning stint, the Devils have three goalies. Lack will get some work in the AHL before the Devils make a decision on what to do with him.

Lack will start against the Wild on Thursday.

Lack surprised against the Lightning in his last start, stopping a remarkable 48 of 51 shots in a 4-3 Devils’ victory. It was undoubtedly the strongest start of the season for Lack, who has posted an ugly 4.22 GAA and .869 SV%. He’ll look to build on his last start tonight in what will be a difficult matchup against the Wild.

The Flames acquired Eddie Lack, Ryan Murphy and a 2019 7th round pick from the Hurricanes for Keegan Kanzig and a 2019 6th round pick.

Lack was a key member of the Canucks in 2014 and 2015, but struggled in two years with Carolina. With the Hurricanes acquiring Scott Darling from the Blackhawks, they needed to move Lack or Cam Ward and the Flames came calling for a backup. Lack has posted a career 2.56 GAA and .911 SV% in 136 NHL games and will be the primary backup to Mike Smith in 2017-18.
