The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned forward Eric Tangradi to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.

Tangradi found his way into two games, taking a shot on goal and handing out two hits. He did not get a big chance to succeed while playing on the fourth line but knew his time in Pittsburgh would be limited.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Eric Tangradi from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.

Tangradi will likely only play a game or two before getting sent back down.

Considered a longshot to make the team, Tangradi gets his big chance tonight to make an impression and show the Penguins something, as he will be put in a top line role with winger Steve Sullivan sitting out his 4th straight preseason game.

Last season, he scored 18 goals and 33 points through 42 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Expect him to receive a call-up at some point with the Pens this season but making the team out of camp is highly unlikely.

He hasn't shown that yet, and if he doesn't against the Kings the bet here is he won't get too many more chances in this camp.

Tangradi was once the team's top prospect but his stock somewhat fell. Last season, he scored 18 goals and 33 points through 42 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Expect him to get a look at some point with the Pens this season.

"I feel 100 percent, if not better," Tangradi said. "I learned a lot from the injury and it was a tough grind getting back out there, but I had a really good summer … getting in the gym and putting on some extra weight to get ready for another hockey season."

Tangradi likely starts off the season in the AHL as the Pens currently have 13 forwards, including Sidney Crosby, on one-way contracts. The third-best prospect, according to Hockey's Future, will need to overly impress during training camp in order to stick in the lineup.
