The Avalanche have placed Erik Johnson (lower-body) on IR.

Johnson suffered a lower-body injury while blocking a shot on Saturday and will not be available for Tuesday's game vs. Tampa and has been placed on the injured reserve. Head coach Jared Bednar said they do not have a timeline for Johnson's return. The 34-year-old has seven assists across 51 games played this season.

Johnson will be back in the Avalanche lineup on Wednesday.

Johnson was scratched in Edmonton on Saturday but will replace Jack Johnson in the lineup on Wednesday. The veteran blueliner has scored seven goals with 15 assists (22 points) and a plus-21 rating in 71 games this season.

Johnson (upper-body) is week-to-week.

Johnson has been sidelined since last Saturday after getting hurt on a hit from Jordan Greenway. Head coach Jared Bednar announced that he'll miss at least a couple of weeks on Tuesday, so look for Conor Timmins to play a more prominent role while Johnson is sidelined.

Johnson (COVID-19) will make his season debut on Tuesday.

Johnson missed training camp while recovering from COVID-19 but will make his season debut tonight in Los Angeles. The Avalanche will ease Johnson back into the lineup, dressing him as a seventh defenseman. Johnson will replace Andre Burakovsky, who is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

Johnson has been sidelined with COVID-19 and will miss the start of the season; could debut this weekend.

Johnson has been missing from Avalanche training camp and head coach Jared Bednar told reporters on Wednesday that it was due to COIVD-19. With Johnson out for the opener vs. St. Louis, Conor Timmins will skate on the second pair with Samuel Girard.

Erik Johnson
Johnson (undisclosed) is not expected to play on opening night.

Johnson remains unfit to participate and has not been in training camp, so Conor Timmins will take his place in the opener on Wednesday. Timmins will draw in and skate with Samuel Girard at even-strength. Consider Johnson as day-to-day until the Avalanche release more information.

Erik Johnson
Johnson is expected to miss the next three games with a lower-body injury.

Johnson suffered a lower-body injury on a hit-from-behind by former teammate Alexander Kerfoot on Saturday and will miss all three of this week's games. Kerfoot was suspended for two games for the hit and Mark Barberio is expected to replace Johnson in the lineup.
