The healing of Erik Karlsson’s severed Achilles tendon is going well but there is no timeline for his return to action, his agent, Craig Oster, said Wednesday morning. In an email message, Oster said care will be taken to make sure Karlsson is “fully healthy” before he returns.

Karlsson was injured in a Feb. 13 game against the Pittsburgh Penguins when his left Achilles was cut by Matt Cooke’s left skate. He had surgery to repair the tendon the next day. He has been skating for 30-40 minutes daily at the Bell Sensplex, fueling speculation he may return this season.

Erik Karlsson is on the ice again today at Bell Sensplex.

Karlsson skated yesterday for the firs time since getting his achilles sliced. He is still likely to miss the rest of the regular season, but you never know. This is an incredible recovery and he should at least be back for a Senators playoff run. If you have an empty roster spot, why not stash him and hope he returns in time for you to be in the Fantasy Finals.

Erik Karlsson skates! Less than 2 months after slicing his achilles, Karlsson looked very good in a workout this am with Marc Power.

Karlsson is still not expected to be back in the regular season, but the Senators could certainly use him in the playoffs. This is a great sign for Ottawa fans.

The Norris Trophy winner last season as the NHL's top defenceman, Karlsson was cut by Penguins forward Matt Cooke's skate blade as the two tangled along the boards. The Senators said Karlsson will need surgery.

Star defenceman Erik Karlsson went down with a left Achilles injury when he was cut by a skate blade late in the second period in the Senators' 4-2 loss to Pittsburgh on Wednesday night. An achilles injury is really serious and Karlsson is going to miss the rest of the year.

Ottawa Senators defenceman Erik Karlsson is 21 years old. And tiny. He’s also the undisputed No. 1 on this team, showing poise beyond his years and blue line scoring ability the Senators haven’t seen since Wade Redden was good at hockey.

In case you didn't know, Karlsson is the number one defenseman on the young Sens. His point totals of last season -- 13 goals and 45 points through 75 games -- could easily be topped as the 21-year-old already has five assists through three games.
