The Stars have signed Esa Lindell to a six-year extension worth $34.8 million ($5.8M AAV).
Lindell, 24, has become a fantastic shutdown defenseman for Dallas after being selected in the third-round in 2012. Lindell has some offensive flair to his game as well, scoring 11 goals and 21 assists (32 points) in 82 games during the regular season. The Finnish defenseman had a great postseason, leading all Stars’ players in ice-time (26:58 TOI/gm) with four points (1G / 3A) and 34 blocked shots in 13 games. Lindell, John Klingberg and Miro Heiskanen will be among the NHL’s best top-3 defensemen for the Stars for many years to come.
Lindell (illness) will be back after a two-game absence.
Lindell (illness) did not travel to Nashville for Tuesday’s game.
Lindell will miss his second straight game with an illness. Lindell was listed as day-to-day so he should be considered as questionable heading into Friday’s game vs. the Ducks.
Lindell (illness) is not expected to play on Monday.
Lindell is dealing with an illness and is doubtful for Monday’s game vs. the Senators. Julius Honka will replace Lindell in the lineup if he is unable to go.
The Stars have signed Esa Lindell to a two-year extension worth $4.4M ($2.2M AAV).
Shortly after they announced that they will be buying out goalie Antti Niemi, the Stars used some of that cap-space to lock up Lindell for the next two years. The 23-year-old defenseman had 18 points (6G / 12A) in 73 games in his first full NHL season—a year after he had 42 points (14G / 28A) in 73 AHL games. He has a healthy amount of offensive upside and should factor into fantasy circles in 2017-18.
Lindell will make his season debut on Tuesday.
Lindell, 22, appeared in four games with the Stars last season, but did not record a point. He has offensive ability, as evidenced by his 42 AHL points (14G / 28A) but he likely won’t see the usage necessary to make a fantasy impact.
