Blues not expected to call up a forward. Grachev or Porter will step into lineup.

With McDonald out of the lineup, Grachev could step back in. Last season, with the New York Rangers, he failed to produce any points through eight games while posting a minus-3 rating. He did show some chemistry with David Backes and Jamie Langenbrunner in the preseason which should help out his case.

And this season he has a real shot at making the Blues roster.

Grachev has a tangible opportunity to make the Blues out of training camp following his excellent game yesterday. Look for the 21-year-old to either make significant strides in the AHL or get a chance on a scoring line. Matt Duchene's former linemate could be a very surprising asset for the team this season.

The Rangers have traded Evgeny Grachev to the Blues for a third-round pick (No. 72) in this year’s draft. With the newly-acquired pick, the Rangers took Edina (Minn.) High School center Steven Fogarty.
