The Sharks have acquired Greg Pateryn and a 2021 fifth-round draft pick from the Avalanche for Devan Dubnyk.

Pateryn heads to his third year of 2021 and will likely battle with Christian Jaros for the No.6 defensman role. Pateryn has two assists, 10 shots, 16 blocks and 11 hits in 11 games with the Wild and Avalanche.

Pateryn has only appeared in two NHL games with Colorado since being acquired from Minnesota. The 30-year-old has appeared in 10 AHL games, scoring three goals with the Eagles. He'll replace Conor Timmins, who is out with an upper-body injury.

Pateryn underwent bilateral core muscle repair surgery and is expected to miss six weeks.

Pateryn appeared in 80 games with the Wild last season but is set to miss the first six weeks of the 2019-20 season. With Pateryn expected to be out until mid-November, Brad Hunt is expected to open the season as the Wild’s No.6 defenseman.

The Stars have acquired Greg Pateryn and 2017 fourth round pick from the Canadiens for Jordie Benn.

Pateryn has only appeared in 24 games with the Canadiens this season and made it well-known that he was unhappy with his playing time. Unfortunately he heads to Dallas with their own clogged bluleline.
