Antti Niemi News

Niemi allowed two goals on 34 shots in the Canadiens shootout loss in Tampa Bay on Saturday. With Charlie Lindgren starting last night, the Canadiens will turn to Niemi again tonight. Niemi has gone 2-0-3 with a 1.73 GAA and .951 SV% in his last five starts, but has a tough matchup with the Stars in town.

Niemi allowed two goals on 50 shots in the Canadiens loss in Boston last Saturday. He ended up missing the next two games with a lower-body injury, but will draw back into the crease this afternoon. He has played a lot better as of late, allowing just seven goals on the last 149 shots (.953 SV%) that he has faced.

The lower-body injury will shut Niemi down during the best stretch of his 2017-18 season. There’s not word on how long he will be sidelined, but the Canadiens will turn to Charlie Lindgren and Zach Fucale in the meantime.

Niemi allowed just one goal on 28 shots in the Canadiens win over the Islanders on Wednesday. He has been splitting the crease with Charlie Lindgren as of late and comes into Saturday having given up just five goals on 99 shots (.950 SV%) in his last three starts. Despite the hot streak, he is a risky option with a rough matchup in Boston.

Niemi allowed three goals on 39 shots in the Canadiens loss to the Lightning on Saturday. He was given Monday night off as Charlie Lindgren lost to the Flyers, but will be back in tonight vs. the Islanders. Since joining the Canadiens, Niemi has gone 3-2-2 with a 2.60 GAA and .922 SV% in 10 games.

Niemi impressed his last time out, stopping 31 of 32 shots in a 3-1 win over the Rangers. The Canadiens will hope he can build off it moving forward as he’s in line to see the lion’s share of the starts while Carey Price (concussion) remains sidelined. Unfortunately, he draws arguably the worst matchup on the slate tonight against the Lightning.

Niemi was lit up for three goals on six shots in a 6-3 loss to the Golden Knights on Saturday. He now sports an unappealing 4.18 GAA and .880 SV% on the season. Despite his poor play, Niemi could be in line for an increased workload in the interim, as the Habs announced today Carey Price is out indefinitely with a concussion. He draws a pretty good matchup at home tonight against the Rangers.

Niemi’s last start came on Wednesday, where he allowed two goals on 25 shots in a 2-0 loss to the Avalanche. After an awful turn with the Penguins to start the year, Niemi has played well for the Canadiens, posting a 2-2-1 record with a .933 SV% in five starts for the team. He draws a difficult matchup tonight against the Golden Knights.

Sateri allowed one goal on 27 shots in the Panthers win over the Canucks on Tuesday. Even with James Reimer back, Sateri earned another start tonight vs. the Kings. Sateri has won four in a row while stopping 114 of 120 shots (.950 SV%) that he has faced. It has been an impressive run for the young netminder, who will look to win his fifth straight against a Kings team that has won four of their last five.

Sateri allowed two goals on 28 shots in the Panthers win over the Red Wings on Saturday. Sateri has won three in a row while posting a 1.67 GAA and .946 SV%. Sateri’s run as the Panthers No.1 might be coming to an end soon, but he will get at least one more start tonight vs. the Canucks—Vancouver has gone 5-8-1 while averaging just 2.43 goals for in their last 14.

Sateri allowed one goal on 33 shots in the Panthers win against the Islanders on Tuesday. It was Sateri’s first career win and a significantly better performance than his previous three outings. Tonight he faces the Sabres, who are last in the Eastern Conference and 6-13-3 on home ice this season.

Sateri allowed four goals on 46 shots in the Panthers loss to the Capitals last Thursday. Sateri will be making his fourth straight appearance but the first three have not gone well—he has allowed a combined 14 goals on 111 shots (.874 SV%). Things don’t get any easier in Brooklyn tonight as the Islanders possess one of the best offensive teams in the NHL.

Sateri allowed six goals on 36 shots after replacing James Reimer in the Panthers loss in Dallas on Tuesday. With Reimer and Roberto Luongo both dealing with injuries, Sateri is expected to be the Panthers’ No.1 for the time being. Sateri is 0-2-0 with a 4.82 GAA and .861 SV% in one start and two relief appearances this season.
