Hudson Fasching News

The Sabres have recalled Hudson Fasching from Rochester (AHL).

Fasching has picked up six goals and three assists (nine points) in 21 games with Rochester. Fasching has just three points (1G / 2A) in his first 17 career NHL games and likely won’t be the answer the Sabres are searching for after being shutout for the third straight game.

Fasching left Sunday’s game with a groin injury and did not return.

Fasching played just one shift before leaving Sunday’s game vs. the Jets. Head coach Dan Bylsma didn’t have an update on Fasching after the game, but said they will likely have another forward at practice on Monday, which suggests that Fasching will miss some time.

Fasching will be a healthy scratch on Friday.

Fasching has appeared in six consecutive straight games, but will be a healthy scratch vs. the Blue Jackets this evening. He has collected one goal on nine shots on goal to start his NHL career. He will be replaced by Cole Schneider, who will be making his NHL debut.

The Kings have traded prospects Hudson Fasching and Nicolas Deslauriers to the Sabres for Brayden McNabb, Jonathan Parker and two second round picks.

Fasching, 18, was a fourth-round pick (118th overall) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He is a 6-foot-2, 213 lbs. winger who has 12 goals and 15 assists (27 points) in 31 games with the University of Minnesota. He had an excellent tournament with Team USA at the World Juniors this season.
