Moore was expected to be a key piece of the Anaheim Ducks' defensive unit after they lost a few big names in the offseason, but will have to wait for his regular-season debut after it was announced that the 24-year-old is expected to miss the next 2-4 weeks with a lower-body injury. The second-year defenseman is coming off an up-and-down rookie campaign, where he had four goals, 12 points, 24 PIMs and a -14 plus/minus across 67 games played. His spot is now up for grabs on opening night when Anaheim takes on the Vegas Golden Knights on October 2nd.

Anaheim has locked up a key piece of their defensive unit on Thursday after the team announced they had signed Ian Moore to a two-year deal worth $1.15M AAV. The 24-year-old is entering his second full NHL season after a successful rookie campaign in 2025-26 saw him put up four goals and 12 points in 67 games played.

Moore will be a healthy scratch on Friday, as the Ducks return to the traditional formation after rostering seven defenseman in their previous game. The 23-year-old defenseman has four points (2G / 2A) in 17 games this season.

Moore will dress on Monday as Anaheim opts to get some fresh legs into the lineup for the tail-end of their back-to-back. Ryan Strome will sit in his place.
