Jacob Josefson News

Josefson and Kovalchuk are separated.

Josefson centered a line with Adam Henrique and David Clarkson. Last season he scored three goals and 10 points last season for the Devils, breaking his arm in the middle of the season. He should see time next to Kovalchuk at some point this season.

He looks like a top two-line centerman to me in the NHL. He's going to get that opportunity here obviously with Zajac out. I don't have any doubt that he's going to fill that role in the coming years here.

With Zajac out, Josefsen gets the first crack at centering Ilya Kovalchuk. The former 20th overall pick scored three goals and 10 points last season for the Devils, breaking his arm in the middle of the season. He could be incredibly valuable this season should he succeed in his new role.

Iyla Kovalchuk, left, Jacob Josefson middle, and David Clarkson have skated together as a line for the first two days of Devils’ training camp.

Josefson struggled to center Kovalchuk last season but will get another chance with his new coach. Expect an improvement from his three goals and 10 points of last season.
