Muzzin had to be stretchered off of the ice late in the Maple Leafs' 3-0 win over the Blue Jackets in Game 2 and was immediately taken to hospital. This situation gets even more murky with Muzzin having to leave the NHL bobble. Chris Johnston of SportsNet reported that "medical officials will make the call on how long he'd have to quarantine if and when he's ready to return. It will depend on where he goes, how long he's gone and how much risk he's exposed to."

Muzzin will miss four weeks with a broken hand.

Muzzin was forced to leave Tuesday's game after blocking a shot and it was announced on Wednesday morning that he broke his hand. Muzzin (foot) is expected to be back in the Maple Leafs lineup on Monday.

Muzzin missed the last 10 games with a broken foot but is expected to play Monday in Nashville. Muzzin was recently recalled from a one-game conditioning stint with the Marlies and skated on the top-pair with Justin Holl in Sunday's practice. He will likely log massive minutes while Morgan Rielly is out and comes into play with 13 points (3G / 10A) in 38 games this season.

The Maple Leafs have acquired Jake Muzzin from the Kings for Carl Grundstrom, the rights to Sean Durzi and a 2019 first-round pick.

Toronto needed to bolster their blueline and did so by adding Muzzin, who has spent the first seven seasons of his career in Los Angeles. The Maple Leafs really needed a right-handed defenseman but Muzzin was a much cheaper alternative and goes to Toronto with one more season on his contract that carries a $4.0M AAV cap-hit. Muzzin, who is 6-foot-3, 213 lbs., who can produce solid offensive numbers and play physically. He projects to play on the top-pair with Morgan Rielly, which will allow Ron Hainsey to play significantly less taxing minutes.

Muzzin (upper-body) is questionable for Game 1 vs. Vegas.

Muzzin, who missed the final five games of the regular season was on the ice for Monday’s practice in a no-contact sweater and is a big question mark for Game 1. Muzzin is the Kings’ clear No.2 defenseman behind Drew Doughty and his availability during the first round will be crucial to the Kings’ success.
