The Stars recalled Matt Murray from the Texas Stars (AHL), who will predominantly serve as the backup to Scott Wedgewood while Oettinger is out of the lineup.

Oettinger will draw his third-straight start after dropping his previous game to Tampa Bay after allowing four goals on 23 shots (.826 SV%) but will look for redemption Wednesday vs. Florida. The 24-year-old goaltender has been one of the league's best yet again in 2023-24, with his 10-5-2 record, 2.53 GAA and .915 SV%. He will take on the Panthers on the road Wednesday, who have lost four of their six games and are second in the NHL in shots per game (34.1).

Oettinger's play has been somewhat up and down lately but has saved 59 of 60 shots (.983 SV%) over his last two games (2-0-0) and will return to the crease on the road, where he has been tremendous all season. On home ice this season, Oettinger has a lacklustre 3.00 GAA and .894 SV% in eight games (4-3-1), night and day, compared to his sensational 1.87 GAA and .942 SV% in eight road games (6-1-1). Oettinger and the Stars are -116 road favourites against a Tampa Bay Lightning team that has lost four straight, including an 8-1 loss to the Stars on Saturday.
