The Bruins have signed Jaroslav Halak to a two-year deal worth $5.5M ($2.75M AAV).

Halak had another tough season with the Islanders in 2018, going 20-26-6 with a 3.19 GAA and .908 SV% in 54 games. A change of scenery should help the 33-year-old netminder, who will serve as Tuukka Rask’s backup in 2019. Halak heads to Boston with a career 2.50 GAA and .916 SV% in 449 NHL games.

Halak wil start Saturday vs. the Blackhawks.

Halak allowed one goal on 12 shots after replacing Chris Gibson in the Islanders loss to the Lightning on Thursday. Halak is 0-4-1 with an ugly 4.08 GAA and .854 SV% in six appearances in March. The veteran netminder stopped 36 of 39 shots in a 7-3 win over the Blackhawks in their first meeting of the season.

Halak allowed just one goal on nine shots after replacing Chris Gibson in the Islanders blowout loss to the Capitals last night. Halak will start the tail-end of the home-and-home with Washington as he searches for his first win since February 15th. Halak is 1-1-0 with a 2.44 GAA and .900 SV% against Washington this season.

Halak surrendered five goals on 24 shots in the Islanders loss to the Canadiens on Friday. Despite an impressive showing from Chris Gibson on Saturday, Halak will be back in the crease tonight. Halak is on a five-game losing streak, allowing a combined 18 goals on 146 shots (.877 SV%).

Halak allowed three goals on 26 shots in the Islanders loss in Montreal on Wednesday. Halak is riding a four-game losing streak while posting a 3.26 GAA and .893 SV%, but tonight he will make his fifth consecutive start. He will face the same Montreal team, this time on home-ice where he is 11-10-2 with a 3.29 GAA and .915 SV% this season.

In his last eight starts, Halak has gone 3-3-2 while posting a 3.23 GAA and .919 SV%—however it has not been all on Halak because he’s faced an average of 40.13 shots per game during that stretch. Tonight he faces the Sabres, who he is 2-0-0 with a 2.48 GAA and .924 SV% against this season.
