Bouwmeester will miss the rest of the 2020 season.

Bouwmeester has been out since he suffered a cardiac episode on February 11th and will miss the 2020 regular season and playoffs. When asked about his future Bouwmeester said: “I’m going to have to evaluate (the future), but I wouldn’t say I’ve done that fully yet. There are decisions I’m going to have to make, but that will come later.”

Bouwmeester was taken to hospital after suffering a cardiac episode on the bench on Tuesday.

Bouwmeester collapsed on the bench during a TV timeout in the first period of Tuesday's game in Anaheim. Bouwmeester was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was "conscious and alert." Bouwmeester will undergo further testing and the Blues are expected to release an update this morning. The Ducks-Blues came was postponed and will be made up at a later date.

Bouwmeester suffered a left ankle fracture; will be re-evaluated in three weeks.

Bouwmeester, who is entering his sixth season with the Blues will be sidelined with a left ankle fracture that he suffered in training camp. The Blues will re-evaluate Bouwmeester one-week into the season and they’ll likely release a more detailed timetable at that time. Look for Joel Edmundson to take on a larger role at even strength while Bouwmeester is sidelined.
