Jeff Skinner who has been dealing with a lower-body injury is back on the ice with the Hurricanes today.

Skinner was always expected to be ready for Carolina's season opener on Friday, so this is good news for Skinner owners. He is expected to start on the Hurricanes third line with Riley Nash and Drayson Bowman.

With Skinner out, the Canes only skates 11 forwards this morning. Ruutu found himself on the second line and the 4th line was missing a skater. Will update as we learn more. They could go with 7 D or play Bergeron on forward, although he did practice as a D-man.

Skinner hasn't played since February 14 when he suffered a concussion. He will be back in the lineup tonight when Carolina takes on Pittsburgh. Skinner will be back on a line with Jordan Staal who is making his return to Pittsburgh tonight. Skinner had seven goals and seven assists in 13 games before getting injured.

#Canes Jeff Skinner is taking the morning skate, but he is Wearing the no contact jersey.

Skinner suffered a concussion on February 14th vs. Toronto and is out indefinitely. He has a history of concussion problems and this injury wil l likely be dealt with very carefully. He skated with a non-contact jersey today at practice, however the practice was only seven minutes long. There is no timetable for Skinner's return so monitor his status after the weekend

Canes coach Kirk Muller said after today's practice that Skinner, out the last 15 games with a concussion, could return for tomorrow's game against the Boston Bruins. Then again, it could be Sunday against the Washington Capitals or Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Skinner could draw back into the lineup this weekend if he gets the OK. Before getting hurt he scored 12 goals and 24 points through 30 games. Keep your eyes peeled for the Rookie of the Year.
