Johan Franzen News

Johan Franzen (undisclosed) will not play Wednesday.

The nature of Franzen's injury was not announced, but it is serious enough to keep him out of Wednesday's contest in Vancouver. Monitor his status prior to Friday's matchup with Calgary. Luke Glendening was recalled from Grand Rapids to travel out-west with the Red Wings.

Franzen was hurt last night and might miss tonight's game. We'll have to wait for an official word from the Red Wings. He has played great as of late (6 goals in his last 6 games) so this would be a big blow to the Red WIngs roster.

Franzen left Thursday's game with a lower-body injury but will not miss any time. Franzen is slowly starting to find his scoring touch lately, he has two goals and four assists in his last six games.

After the game coach Mike Babcock said he had no update on Franzen, and doesn't know if injury is significant. He will be evaluated Friday when they return to Detroit. The Wings don't play again until Sunday.

Franzen has missed the Red Wings last seven games with a hip flexor injury but should return on the Red Wings two game California trip. The Wings have battled the injury-bug all season and the return of Franzen would certainly help the likes of Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Brunner who have been carrying the team offensively.
