The NHL has suspended John Moore for five games for his illegal check to the head of Erik Haula on Monday.

Moore is a repeat offender which is the reason for the five game suspension. Haula suffering an injury on the play also plays a hand in a lengthy suspension. Moore is not eligible to return to the lineup until Tuesday, November 11th against the Penguins.

Moore (concussion) returns to the Rangers lineup on Thursday.

Moore missed the last six games with a concussion he suffered on March 21st. Moore returns just in time to replace Ryan McDonagh on the New York blueline. Moore will slide into McDonagh's spot with Dan Girardi and also pick-up some of his power-play minutes. "I'm 100 per cent, I feel great," said Moore. "No extra pressure without Mac in lineup, just a chance to play my game"

The New York Rangers have traded Marian Gaborik to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Derek Brassard, Derek Dorset, John Moore and a 6th-round pick.

Moore was the 21st overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He is a 6-foot-3-inch, 202 lbs. defenseman who is a great skater. He has one assist in 17 games for Blue Jackets this season.
