Tavares has been discharged from the hospital and is out indefinitely.

Tavares had to be stretchered off of the ice after taking an incidental Corey Perry knee to the head. It was a scary incident but was discharged after being "thoroughly examined and assessed by the neurological team at St. Michael's Hospital and the club's medical director" according to the team. Tavares is out indefinitely and likely won't be seen again during the first round.

Tavares (finger) will return to the Maple Leafs lineup on Tuesday.

Tavares missed seven games with a fractured finger but will play Tuesday vs. the Kings. Unsurprisingly, the Maple Leafs struggled without their captain, going 3-2-2 while averaging 3.00 goals per game versus 4-3-1 while averaging 3.88 goals per game with him in the lineup. He'll return with seven points (3G / 4A) in eight games and will play on a line with Mitch Marner and Trevor Moore.

Tavares (finger) will travel to Philadelphia; hopeful to play on Saturday.

Tavares has missed the last six games with a broken finger but was a full participant in the Maple Leafs' practice on Friday and he is "hopeful" to play on Saturday. Toronto went 2-2-2 without Tavares and he comes back with seven points (3G / 4A) in eight games, whenever he's healthy.

John Tavares
Tavares will miss at least two weeks with a broken finger.

Tavares sustained a broken finger late in the Maple Leafs’ loss to the Capitals on Wednesday. Tavares will be out for at least two weeks and will be re-evaluated by the medical staff at that point. This is obviously a massive blow for the Maple Leafs and a rarity for Tavares, who has only missed a combined nine games over the last five seasons.

John Tavares
The Maple Leafs have signed John Tavares to a seven-year, $77M ($11M AAV) deal.

Tavares walks away from the Islanders after nine seasons, in which he scored 272 goals with 349 assists (621 points) in 669 games. The 27-year-old signs with his childhood team, joining one of the best, young teams in the NHL. Tavares, Auston Matthews and Nazem Kadri is as formidable of a trio down the middle as you will find across the league. Over the last four seasons, Tavares is sixth in the NHL in points (306), tied for sixth in goals (136) and 22nd in assists (170). His cap-hit is now tied with Drew Doughty for the second highest in the NHL.

Tavares (illness) will play on Thursday vs. the Canadiens.

Tavares missed the last three games with an illness but will be back in the lineup tonight in Montreal. The Islanders scored just five goals in the three games without Tavares, but they will get their captain back this evening. He has 11 points (5G / 6A) in 10 games this season and should be activated in all formats.

John Tavares
Tavares (illness) skated this morning but will not play on vs. the Devils.

Tavares will miss his third consecutive game with an illness. Despite not play tonight, it was a good sign that Tavares was able to take part in the Islanders’ morning skate. Monitor his status prior to Thursday’s game in Montreal.

John Tavares
Tavares (illness) is expected to be out for “a little bit.”

Tavares missed both games this weekend and Monday’s practice. Head coach Jack Capuano said after the session that Tavares is still very sick and that he doesn’t “expect him [back] for a little bit.” It seems highly unlikely that Tavares will be available for Tuesday’s game vs. New Jersey.

John Tavares
Tavares does not need surgery to repair a torn MCL, the injury requires an 8-12 week rehab.

Tavares is done for the remainder of the regular season. With the Islanders sitting 12 points out of the final playoff spot in the East, it seems very unlikely they will make the playoffs without their captain. Look for Tavares at the start of training camp for the 2014-15 season.
