Binnington was up to back up Jake Allen on Thursday but with Carter Hutton (lower-body) being activated from IR, Binnington returns to Providence.

Binnington, 24, has gone 6-1-0 with a 6-1-0 with a 1.84 GAA and .933 SV% in eight starts with Providence this season. Binnington comes up to serve as Jake Allen’s backup on Thursday and will likely return to Providence after that.

The Blues are done until after the All-Star break so they’ve sent Binnington down to play with Chicago until after the break. If Jake Allen isn’t ready to go immediately following the break, then Binnington will likely be called back up.

Binnington, 22, has gone 8-6-2 with a 2.57 GAA and .910 SV% with Chicago (AHL) this season. With Jake Allen (undisclosed) not available for Saturday, the Blues have recalled Binnington to serve as Brian Elliott’s backup on Saturday. If Allen’s injury is longterm, Binnington could make his NHL debut next week.

Brian Elliott sustained a lower-body injury on Tuesday night, so Binnington, 21, has been recalled to serve as the Blues second net minder while Elliott is out. Binnington has gone 6-2-1 with a 1.89 GAA and .925 SV% in nine AHL appearances this season.
