NHL CapHit: $875,000 Puckpedia Profile

The Flames signed Josh Leivo to a one-year contract worth $875K.

Leivo appeared in just 36 games with the Canucks last season, picking up seven goals and 12 assists (19 points). The Leivo signing continues the Flames' trend of bringing in former Canucks this offseason. With Dominik Simon and Joakim Nordstrom also signing with the Flames, they have plenty of internal competition for bottom-6 roles this season.

Following Thursday's game, head coach Travis Green said that he didn't think it was "going to be great" and the news is terrible. Leivo will be out until at least mid-February and his absence will allow Loui Eriksson to draw back into the lineup on Saturday.

Leivo will miss at least the next two games due to back spasms.

Leivo has been moved to IR due to back spasms that forced him to leave Wednesday’s game in Ottawa. Leivo has been ruled out of tonight’s game and Saturday’s game in Toronto, so moving him to IR was just a formality to active his replacement Brandon Sutter. Leivo is eligible to come off of IR for next Thursday’s game vs. the Coyotes.
