Robert Bortuzzo News

Bortuzzo will be available to return Wednesday after being activated from the injured reserve due to an upper-body injury. The 33-year-old has yet to pick up a point through ten games this season but has been his usual stay-at-home, steady self averaging only 12:03 TOI.

Bortuzzo left the Blues' previous game vs. Philadelphia after 9:08 TOI with an upper-body injury. Through 10 games, Bortuzzo has 10 games played he has zero points and nine PIMs with only five SOG. He heads to the injured reserve to make room for Tyler Tucker.

Yandle was a fourth-round pick of the Coyotes in 2005 and holds the NHL ironman streak, playing 989 consecutive games. He finishes his career with 619 points (103G / 516A) in 1109 career NHL games.

Bortuzzo has been out since Game 2 but will return to the lineup for Game 5 vs. the Wild. Bortuzzo has no points and a minus-1 rating while playing under 12 minutes per game in his first two games of the series.

Bortuzzo suffered an upper-body injury in Game 2 and will miss Game 3 as a result. Steven Santini will make his season debut if Marco Scandella (game-time decision) can't play.

Bortuzzo missed Tuesday's game in Colorado due to an undisclosed injury but is set to return to the lineup on Friday. Bortuzzo will replace Calle Rosen in the lineup vs. Vegas.

Yandle was a healthy scratch for the last two games but he will suit up on the third pairing on Tuesday. Yandle will start a new ironman streak, replacing Kevin Connauton in the lineup.

Scratching Yandle snaps his ironman streak at 989 games and makes room for the recently signed Ronnie Attard to make his NHL debut against the Maple Leafs. The Flyers are prioritizing getting their young players minutes over Yandle's streak.

Bortuzzo will be replaced by Calle Rosen in the Blues lineup on Monday. Bortuzzo, who was a minus-2 in 11:20 TOI on Saturday, has just four points (1G / 3A) in 57 games this season.

Bortuzzo was set to become a UFA at the end of the season but gets $950K AAV on his new two-year contract. Bortuzzo doesn't provide a lot of offence but is a rugged, penalty-killing defenseman for the Blues. Bortuzzo leads the team in Hits/60 (7.91) and is second in Blk/60 (5.04) in 37 games this season.

Bortuzzo took the morning off and will sit out Monday vs. Vegas. With Bortuzzo out, Niko Mikkola will suit up for his third game of the season.

Yandle had two years left on a seven-year contract that carried a $6.35M AAV cap-hit. Buying out his contract will save the Panthers just over $4.0M in cap-space in 2021-22, $958.3K in 2022-23 and cost them $1.242M in 2024 and 2025 (per PuckPedia). The 34-year-old defenseman has not missed a regular-season game since 2009 and sits second on the all-time Consecutive Games Played in NHL History list at 922 games.

Bortuzzo has been out since the second game of the season but was activated from IR on Sunday and should be back in the lineup on Monday. Bortuzzo will likely replace Jake Walman vs. the Coyotes.

Bortuzzo was forced to leave Friday’s blowout loss to the Avalanche after a hit from Valeri Nichushkin. Moving Bortuzzo to IR means he will miss at least seven days and Carl Gunnarsson will likely draw into the lineup on Monday.
