The Wild have re-signed Kevin Fiala to a two-year contract worth $6 million.

Fiala struggled after being traded to the Wild last season, scoring just three goals with four assists (seven points) in 19 games. Heading into his first training camp with Minnesota, Fiala has a chance to start the season on the top-line with Eric Staal and Jason Zucker, putting him back on the map for a fantasy hockey breakout. He has great shot volume and that will only get better with first line minutes.

The Wild have acquired Kevin Fiala from the Predators for Mikael Granlund.

The Predators were looking for Fiala to take the next step this season after scoring 23 goals with 25 assists (48 points) last season and it has not happened. The winger was impressive last season, firing 187 shots while averaging just 15:09 TOI/gm but has seen his shot volume and shooting percentage drop this year. In Minnesota, he has a clear path to playing top-6, even top-line minutes, so this trade should help boost his fantasy value through the rest of the season.

Fiala (undisclosed) will be a game-time decision on Wednesday.

Fiala’s starts for Wednesday’s game in Toronto is in question after he missed the morning skate. Fiala has registered two goals in each of his last two games but he might not be available tonight. Predators head coach Peter Laviolette said there “nothing to report” regarding Fiala’s status, so consider him a game-time decision.

The Predators have sent Kevin Fiala to Milwaukee (AHL).

Fiala picked up two goals on 18 shots in 10 games with the Predators. The 20-year-old, former 11th overall pick (2014) has not developed the way the Predators have hoped, so he returns to Milwaukee, where he had 50 points (18G / 32A) in 66 games last year. Pontus Aberg has been recalled to replace Fiala.

The Predators recalled Kevin Fiala from Milwaukee (AHL) on Wednesday.

Fiala, 19, was the 11th overall pick in 2014. He was expected to start the year in Nashville but was demoted to Milwaukee, where he has 21 points (6G / 15A) in 34 games. He is expected to make his season debut on Thursday on the top line with James Neal and Ryan Johansen.
