The Lightning have signed Kevin Shattenkirk to a one-year contract worth $1.75 million.

Shattenkirk was bought out by the Rangers and the Lightning quickly signed the right-handed defenseman to a one-year deal. Shattenkirk’s two seasons in New York were forgettable, but he should settle into a sheltered third-pairing role with PP time in Tampa Bay. He may no longer be the player capable of posting 56 points like he did in 2017, but Shattenkirk should be able to get back to 35-plus points in 2020.

The Rangers have bought out Kevin Shattenkirk.

The Rangers signed Shattenkirk to a four-year, $26.6M deal ($6.65M AAV) in 2017 and have bought out the final two-years of his contract. Shattenkirk had just 23 points and 28 points in his first two seasons with the Rangers and the additions of right-handed, offensive-defensemen Jacob Trouba and Adam Fox made Shattenkirk expendable.

Shattenkirk will draw back into the Rangers lineup on Saturday.

Shattenkirk was a healthy scratch in Detroit on Thursday but will replace Marc Staal in the lineup on Saturday. Offensively, Shattenkirk has actually performed well as of late, picking up eight assists in his last 11 games, giving him 22 points (2G / 20A) in 58 games on the season.

Shattenkirk will be a healthy scratch on Thursday.

Head coach David Quinn said that Shattenkirk has had some “slippage” in his last as of late so he will be replaced by Lias Andersson in the lineup in Detroit. The Rangers will go back to six defensemen, which means that Brendan Smith will be paired with Brady Skjei.

Shattenkirk will miss 2-4 weeks with a separated shoulder.

Shattenkirk separated his shoulder against the Lightning on Monday and will be out until at least Christmas. Shattenkirk hasn’t been the same offensive defenseman that he has been in years past, picking up just eight points (1G / 7A) in 29 games. This injury should be good news for Tony DeAngelo, who likely won’t be healthy scratched while Shattenkirk is sidelined.

Shattenkirk (knee) suffered a minor setback; will not skate for the next few days.

Shattenkirk has been sidelined since the middle of January with a torn meniscus and it looks like his rehab will be pushed back a little bit. The Rangers season is over so there’s no need to rush Shattenkirk, but there is some hope in the organization that he will play again this season.

Shattenkirk will undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus and will be out indefinitely.

Shattenkirk, who has been ice cold on the Rangers blueline recently, will be sidelined for an extended period of time after suffering a meniscus tear. Ryan McDonagh will obviously be pushed back up to the first power-play and Anthony DeAngelo was recalled this morning and was practicing on PP2 in Friday’s practice.

The Capitals have acquired Kevin Shattenkirk from the Blues for Zach Sanford, a 2017 first round pick and a conditional 2018 second round pick.

Shattenkirk has been on the block for years it seems, but the Blues were final able to move him to the Capitals. Shattenkirk is a talented offensive-defenseman, who has 11 goals and 31 assists (42 points) in 61 games this season. He is expected to move to the Capitals’ top power-play unit in his debut on Tuesday night.

Kevin Shattenkirk
Shattenkirk (lower-body) will not play on Tuesday.

Shattenkirk will miss his ninth consecutive game tonight vs. the Kings. He was once again on the ice for the Blues’ morning skate, but will be held out of the lineup as he continues to work is way back from a lower-body injury. He is questionable for Wednesday in Chicago.

Kevin Shattenkirk
Shattenkirk (lower-body) is doubtful for Tuesday's game.

Shattenkirk has missed the last eight games with a lower-body injury. He was not expected to miss this much time, but it looks like he will miss his ninth consecutive game on Tuesday, which also puts his status for Wednesday’s game in doubt.
