Kevin Westgarth News

“Not at all. I’m trying to get him back to where he was at the end of (last) year. I think his little go-around with Anaheim had an impact on who he is right now, so we’re just giving him some opportunity to get his feet under him, handle some pucks, get some skating in and get back to the game that we saw last year.’’

Westgarth should play around 60 games under coach Terry Murray as the bench boss prefers a fighter in his lineup. Last season he added three assists to his 105 PIM. If you need PIM, he might be a decent bench play against rival teams.

Kevin Westgarth did not return to the game after his fight with Anaheim’s Brian McGrattan, 1:43 into the second period. Westgarth, in the hallway of the Kings’ locker room after the game, informally said he was fine, but Terry Murray said Westgarth would be evaluated again tomorrow.

Murray sounds somewhat concerned about his wingers status. Last season, Westgarth found his way into 56 games, registering three assists with 105 PIM. He figures to be a decent source for PIM, if healthy.

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with forward Kevin Westgarth, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

The Kings enforcer finished last season with 105 PIM, which is relatively all of his fantasy value. Interesting to see if he gains more PIM with more playing time and an established role.
