With Yarsolav Askarov (lower body) battling an injury, the Sharks have recalled Brossoit from the San Jose Barracuda (AHL). The severity of Askarov's injury is unclear, but Brossoit will likely serve primarily as Alex Nedeljkovic's backup while he is with the Sharks.

The Sharks have added some goaltending depth by acquiring Brossoit from the Chicago Blackhawks. The 32-year-old Brossoit recently returned from a two-year absence due to injury and a 3.38 GAA and .901 SV% in six games (3-3-0) with the Rockford IceHogs (AHL). He has a 2.64 GAA and .911 SV% in 140 career NHL games (64-46-13), but has not played an NHL game since the 2023-24 season.

Brossoit underwent hip surgery in the offseason and just recently finished a conditioning stint in the AHL with the Rockford IceHogs, where he posted a 3.39 GAA and .900 S% in three games (2-1-0). The 32-year-old Brossoit has battled injuries in recent years, not playing since the 2023-24 season, but has been an effective NHL netminder when healthy, posting a 2.64 GAA and .911 SV% in 140 career appearances (64-46-13).

The 32-year-old signed a two-year deal with the Blackhawks in July 2024 but may never suit up for the team. He already missed the entire 2024-25 season following meniscus surgery in August and arthroscopic surgery in November. On Thursday, GM Kyle Davidson confirmed Brossoit required hip surgery this summer and will be sidelined indefinitely. Chicago is set to open the season with Spencer Knight and Arvid Soderblom as their goaltending tandem.

The Blackhawks signed Brossoit to a two-year deal worth $6.6 million ($3.3M AAV) in the offseason. The 31-year-old Brossoit has suffered a setback in his return to action after underdoing an additional procedure and will be out of the lineup for approximately six more weeks.

Chicago completed their goaltending tandem on Monday as Laurent Brossoit joined Petr Mrazek in the Blackhawks' goaltending room after signing a two-year deal worth $6.6 million ($3.3M AAV). The 31-year-old solidified himself as one of the NHL's best backups after an incredibly successful first season in Winnipeg, with his 15-5-2 record, 2.00 GAA, .927 SV% and three shutouts.

With the Jets locking in home-ice advantage in their impending first-round matchup against the Colorado Avalanche, they will give Connor Hellebuyck the night off in their final game of the season and turn to Brossoit. The 31-year-old Brossoit has had a terrific season as the Jets' backup, posting a 2.00 GAA and .928 SV% in 22 games (14-5-2).

The Jets are riding a four-gaming winning streak and will give Connor Hellebuyck a rest on Thursday against the Dallas Stars. Brossoit has played only one of the last eight games for the Jets but was serviceable in it, saving 25 of 28 shots (.893 SV%) in a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings. The Jets enter action as +136 road underdogs.

The struggling Jets have lost six straight and will turn to Brossoit between the pipes on Monday against the Los Angeles Kings. Brossoit's last start was on March 21st when he allowed three goals on 40 shots (.925 SV%) in a 4-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils. Despite their recent struggles, the Jets enter action as -114 home favourites against the Kings.

Brossoit will look to extend Winnipeg's three-game winning streak as he takes the crease for the second time in four games on Thursday vs. New Jersey. The 30-year-old veteran netminder has been arguably the league's best backup this season with his impressive 12-4-2 record, 1.99 GAA and .927 SV%. He will head to New Jersey to take on the Devils, who have struggled as of late winning only three of their last 10 games.

Brossoit has been sensational when called upon lately and will earn himself his third start in the last seven games for the Jets. In his last outing, Brossoit pitched a 17-save shutout in a 3-0 win over the Seattle Kraken. He is riding a three-game winning streak, allowing three or fewer goals in each, and has a favourable matchup on Friday against the low-scoring Anaheim Ducks.

On the front of a back-to-back, the Jets will turn to Brossoit between the pipes on Friday night. Brossoit has been tremendous when called upon, winning three straight, including a 5-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on March 3rd when he saved 17 of 19 shots (.895 SV%). The Jets enter action as -127 road favourites against a Kraken club that defeated them 4-3 in their last outing.
