With Boston down 2-1 in their opening series to Buffalo, it appears they will shake up the lineup as Lukas Reichel is expected to take the spot of James Hagens for Game 3 on Sunday. The 23-year-old speedster appeared in 29 games this season between Chicago, Vancouver and Boston and pick up three goals and eight points.

Reichel put up three points in nine games during his call up to the Bruins but has been reassigned to Providence (AHL) on Friday with the introduction of James Hagens to the roster. The 23-year-old Reichel is with his third organization this season after being traded from both Chicago and Vancouver prior to landing in Boston.

Reichel has had trouble making an impact at the NHL level and has exclusively played in the AHL since being acquired in a trade in early March by Boston, his third team this season. The 23-year-old German forward scored five points (2G / 3A) in 19 NHL games this season split between Chicago and Vancouver.

Vancouver acquired Lukas Reichel from Chicago for a 2027 4th round pick earlier this season, but his tenure with the Canucks organization is seemingly already nearing an end. Reichel cleared waivers and will report to the Abbotsford Canucks (AHL) while the team will reportedly attempt to facilitate a trade. The 23-year-old Reichel recorded one assist in 14 games with Vancouver.

Aatu Raty will be a healthy scratch on Friday against the San Jose Sharks, allowing Reichel to return from a three-game absence. The 23-year-old Reichel has one assist in 13 games since joining the Canucks earlier this season.

It's unclear whether Reichel is dealing with an undisclosed injury or if he's simply a healthy scratch. MacKenzie MacEachern will play in his place.

Reichel was a high-end prospect for the Blackhawks, drafted 17th-overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, that has trouble acclimating to the NHL in the Blackhawks organization. The 23-year-old was regularly a healthy scratch and saw limited ice time. He scored 58 points (22G / 36A) in 174 career games with the Blackhawks and was off to a strong start in the 2025-26 season, scoring four points (2G / 2A) in five games.

Reichel will draw out of Chicago's lineup after making his season debut against the Canadiens on Saturday. Artyom Levshunov will draw back into the lineup in his place.
