Luke Schenn News

With the Sabres entering a pivotal Game Four, down 2-1 to the Montreal Canadiens, they will make some roster adjustments, with Luke Schenn drawing in for Logan Stanley. The 36-year-old Schenn has yet to play this postseason and was used sparingly down the stretch in the regular season. In just four games with the Sabres this season, Schenn averaged 12:47 time-on-ice, recording three blocks and 10 hits.

Buffalo is two points from securing the Atlantic Division and will turn to Michael Kesselring on Monday over Luke Schenn in the Sabres' lineup. Schenn has been sparsely used since being acquired at the trade deadline from Winnipeg, appearing in only three games and failing to pick up a point while getting nine PIMs in the process.

Michael Kesselring will re-enter Buffalo's lineup on Wednesday, sending Schenn to the press box as a healthy scratch. The 36-year-old Schenn has been used sparingly since being acquired by Buffalo at the trade deadline. The 36-year-old defenseman has zero points and seven hits in three games with Buffalo.

Zach Metsa will be a healthy scratch on Monday, allowing Schenn to re-enter the lineup. The 36-year-old Schenn has not played in over three weeks and has only played two games with the Sabres since being acquired at the trade deadline.

Schenn will take a seat on Tuesday as Mattias Samuelsson returns from an undisclosed injury. Schenn has appeared in two games for the Sabres since being acquired from the Jets, registering zero points, two blocked shots, and five hits.

Buffalo added to their defensive depth late Thursday after they announced they had trade for Luke Schenn and Logan Stanley from Winnipeg for Isak Rosen, Jacob Bryson, a 2027 2nd Round Pick, and conditional 2026 4th Round Pick. Schenn will join his 10th NHL franchise in his 18th NHL season and has a goal, seven points and 32 PIMs in 46 games played so far in 2025-26.

With this being the final game before the trade deadline and Schenn presumably being healthy, scratching him seems likely to be due to roster management reasons. Logan Stanley will also join Schenn in the press box on Thursday, while Isaak Phillips and Ville Heinola will draw into the lineup.

Schenn did not play in Winnipeg's most recent game, but he will return to the lineup on Tuesday against the New York Islanders. The 36-year-old Schenn has five points (1G / 4A) and 88 hits in 30 games this season.

Schenn has been a healthy scratch for the last two games but is expected to replace Colin Miller in the lineup vs. the Wild. Schenn provides very little offence, having just four assists in 24 games this season, but averages 2.5 hits and 1.2 blocked shots per game.

Fleury will make his return from a one month absence, returning from a concussion, resulting in Schenn heading to the sidelines as a healthy scratch. The 36-year-old Schenn has four assists and 61 hits in 24 games this season.

Elias Salomonsson and Neal Pionk (lower body) will return to the Jets' blueline on Wednesday against the Canadiens, resulting in Luke Schenn and Colin Miller being healthy scratches. The 36-year-old Schenn is averaging 13:57 time-on-ice, nearly four minutes less than he was last season. He has 41 hits, 24 blocks, and four assists in 18 games this season.

With Dylan Samberg return from a wrist injury, Schenn will exit the lineup as a healthy scratch. The 36-year-old Schenn has been in and out of the lineup for the Jets this season. He has 18 blocks and 29 hits in 13 games.

Colin Miller will be a healthy scratch on Friday against the San Jose Sharks, allowing Schenn to re-enter the lineup. The 36-year-old Schenn is averaging 13:10 time-on-ice, recording 12 blocks, and 24 hits in 10 games this season.
