Mackenzie Blackwood News

Blackwood will start Thursday in Boston.

Blackwood stopped all nine shots that he faced after replacing Keith Kinkaid in the Devils loss to the Blue Jackets on Sunday. Since coming up from the AHL, Blackwood has stopped 53 of the 57 shots (.930 SV%) that he has faced. He’ll be in tough in his first start after the break, facing a Bruins team that is 13-4-0 on home-ice this season.

Blackwood will start Thursday in Columbus.

Blackwood will make his first career NHL start tonight in the front-end of the Devils’ back-to-back. Blackwood was a second-round pick (No.42 overall) in 2015 and has gone 30-38-4 with a 2.91 GAA, .898 SV% and six shutouts in 83 AHL games. Sub-par AHL numbers and a tough road matchup in Columbus should keep Blackwood on the waiver wire.

The Devils have recalled Mackenzie Blackwood from Binghamton (AHL).

Blackwood, 21, was a second round pick (No.42 overall) in 2015 and has earned a call-up because Cory Schneider (lower-body) and Keith Kinkaid (groin) are both hurt. Blackwood, who has gone 5-12-0 with a 3.64 GAA and .877 SV% in 23 games with Binghamton, will backup Ken Appleby on Thursday.
