Subban allowed three goals on 39 shots in the Blackhawks loss in Nashville on January 26th. Kevin Lankinen has emerged as the Blackhawks' No.1 netminder through the first month of the season, so Thursday would be just Subban's second start of the season. He's allowed eight goals on 72 shots (.889 SV%) in his those two outings, both losses.

Kevin Lankinen has started the last three games but the Blackhawks will come back to Subban for the first time since the season opener. He was lit up for five goals on 33 shots in a loss to the Lightning that night and even if tonight's matchup is a little easier, Subban as an incredibly risky option.

Subban spent most of 2020 in Vegas before being shipped to Chicago as a part of the Robin Lehner deal in late-February. Subban played just one minute with the Blackhawks before the season was cut short but now he is their opening day starter. Before the trade, he was 9-7-3 with a 3.18 GAA and. 890 SV% in 20 games and has a career .899 SV% in 66 appearances. Subban has yet to showcase the talent-level of a full-time NHL starter and it will be difficult for him to get 2021 started on the right foot, as he gets set to take on the defending Stanley Cup Champions.

With Corey Crawford hitting free agency, the Blackhawks will go with a stable of young goalies left by Subban in 2021. He did not start a game with Chicago last season but is 30-23-7 with a 2.97 GAA and .899 SV% in 66 career starts with the Bruins and Golden Knights.

Subban has struggled this season, going 9-7-3 while posting a 3.18 GAA and .890 SV% in 20 games (19 starts) this season. The Golden Knights were looking to improve their backup goaltending situation, so Subban is part of the package to acquire Lehner. Subban will serve as Corey Crawford's backup for the remainder of the 2020 season.

Marc-Andre Fleury started the last four games, including last night, so Subban will get his 19th start tonight in Anaheim. He’s 6-5-2 with a 2.76 GAA and .905 SV% on the road this year and gave up four goals on 18 shots in a loss in his first start vs. the Ducks.

Marc-Andre Fleury started the last five games but is serving his one-game suspension tonight, so Subban will face the Hurricanes.
