Methot will miss “weeks” with a shattered finger.
Methot suffered a serious finger injury after being slashed by Sidney Crosby on on Thursday. It was a gruesome looking injury and will cost the veteran defenseman “weeks.” With Methot out, Fredrik Claesson is expected to draw into the lineup on Saturday.
Methot (illness) will not play on Thursday.
Methot will come out of the lineup tonight in New Jersey because of an illness. The veteran defenseman will be replaced in the lineup by Chris Wideman, who returns from a lower-body injury and Frederik Claesson will skate with Erik Karlsson.

Methot missed Saturday’s game and Monday’s practice because of a concussion. However, he returned to practice this morning, but did not take part in line rushes, which suggests that he will miss Thursday’s game vs. New Jersey.
The Senators have signed Marc Methot to a four-year, $19.6 million contract extension.
Methot was set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, but is now signed through the 2018-19 season with a $4.9M annual cap-hit. Methot has missed 37 games with a lingering back issue this season. He has five assists and a plus-8 rating while average 21:37 TOI in 17 games.
