Staal will be back in the Rangers lineup on Wednesday.

Staal was a healthy scratch for the last three games but will replace Ryan Lindgren in the lineup on Wednesday. Staal, who has a career-high of just 29 points (2010-11), doesn't bring any offence to the table at this point in his career, collecting just one goal in his first nine games of the 2019-20 season.

Staal (cervical strain) will not play against Dallas on Monday.

Staal was slammed into the boards by Alexei Emelin on Saturday after left the game and did not return. Unlike his teammate Jimmy Vesey, Staal was not ruled out for tonight's game until this morning, which bodes well for his chances of playing Wednesday. Monitor his status accordingly.

Staal left Tuesday’s game with a hip flexor injury and did not return.

Staal departed the game early in the third period after playing 14:09 and did not return. “We’ll know more Wednesday,” head coach Alain Vigneault said post-game as he did not have an update on the veteran defenseman. It doesn’t sound like injury is overly serious, but he should be considered questionable for Thursday’s game vs. the Sabres.
